Scoring Numbers

We've had our first attempt at using numbers, and with some rough edges, it is a success. With our new experience, we've made some modifications and reemphasis:

bullet

All riders should use the low middle-of-the-back positions for numbers.

bullet

The judge has the option of being on either side of the road.

bullet

This position works better for riders not using a tight fitting jersey.

bullet

The ambiguities of, e.g., 9 vs 6, et al,  are pretty much eliminated.

bullet

If you klutz out and don't bring your number, we will give you a new number. If possible, bring both numbers to the next TT and turn in the older of the two (or three, or four or... if you're particularly forgetful).

bullet

Yes, we have lots of pins. Pros riding a TT will often use four pins per side to avoid any increased wind resistance. Will 8/100 of a second make that much difference to you?

bullet

If you have a jersey or skin suit that you use just for these time trials, you ought to know that the numbers go through the wash just fine. Pin it on and leave it for the season; our pins are stainless, your pins may rust.
